Learn more about Rise

Pros:

Their is a chat line so you can solve problems quickly. Most of all, it is value for the money and you don't have to go into the office to access this.

Cons:

The entire HRIS right now consists of Time Off and Employee directory (not even employee self-service right now). This is blatant misrepresentation.

Best Customer Support I've Encountered

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Payroll management is a breeze. We're just starting to use their recruiting and onboarding system and it's fantastic. If you hate doing things manually, Rise's platform will be your new best friend.

Pros:

In the event that I've had an issue, Rise's customer support has responded to and solved the issue within a day or two at most.

Cons:

Mobile functionality needs some love. It's almost completely unusable from my phone.

Comments: Easy to use.

Pros:

The payroll function is easy to use . And we can easily modify it in the payroll sheet.

Cons:

The HR function is a bit complicated—mostly the part of creating an employee profile.

Comments: It has been difficult, conflicting direction, changes and poor onboarding process, too many needs cannot be met. feels like the wrong platform for our custom business but I have to say Rise support staff and managers have gone over and above trying to support us. We acknowledge we have not been the perfect client and have issues as well, perhaps we are too needy for what rise can support

Pros:

The people and support, try very hard to satisfy but unfortunately there are just too many issues that we need that cannot be accommodated.

Cons:

Platform is fractured , development support is good but actual development is poor, frequent loss of resources

Still getting going but good so far

4.0 last year

Comments: At this point I have a lot more to learn to customize my experience as a manager but I am enjoying what I have explored so far. I like seeing scheduling, time sheets, recruiting all in one place. Excited to see how we are going to utilize it even more in the future.

Pros:

The onboarding process has been simple and straightforward. I like that the dashboard is intuitive and is customized for what your position is, only showing you the things that you have permissions for.

Cons:

Some of the language can be a touch ambiguous in what exactly they are asking for. Specifically I am talking about the scheduling page where it is asking for frequency and a couple other items. I noticed that I don't seem to get notifications for missed punches, which would be super useful. That being said, I haven't dug into my settings to see if there are options for this.

Great product for Canadian payroll, time tracking and schedule and HR integration

5.0 last year

Comments: We're super happy. We needed a more in-depoth, robust, integrated payroll and HR solution and this was perfect.

Pros:

I like the scheduling and time tracking. We love the integration with Payroll. Saved SO much time as we were doing everything manually before.

Cons:

I find it a bit overwhelming when figuring out how to set everything up - and where to go to access certain information, as some is stored in the HR section and some is stored in the Payroll section.Improvements can definitely be made in the scheduling and time tracking module. For example, the ability for other employees to see other employees schedules within the app - for more transparent shift delegation, capacity planning, shift-swapping, etc.

Rise - Great for business, large or small

5.0 last year

Comments: The service is free and that is a great thing for small business. It is accurate and having all statutory deductions handled directly is a great assurance for compliance

Pros:

The system is very easy to use. The Rise team is most responsive and offers the best in customer service. Automated reminders for payroll deadlines are very helpful for business small proprietors

Cons:

Great system. No issues worthy of mention.

What I like about Rise

5.0 last year

Pros:

The payroll is easy to use. Good customer service. Like the reminders I am getting, so never forget to process. Also, I can process it long enough before due date and it does not get posted until due date, so any changes can be made during that period.

Cons:

I did not experience any Cons. The product we use works well for our company.

Alternatives Considered:

It takes a longer time to download reports.

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, Rise is good. I am very impressed with the customer service. The team sounds professional. They respond to my questions quickly. No matter what questions I have, they fix it right away.

Pros:

I like that I can export the input sheet to excel, I can work on the excel sheet for any adjustments. I can import the excel to the system after I finish all adjustments. It saves a lot of time to process the payroll when I have 200+ payslips to process.

Cons:

There are two things I have to say to get improve. 1) It takes a longer time to download reports. (time-consuming) 2) It is hard to customize the report. For example, I am looking for a report that shows all employees' (Including the termination ) salary changes in a specific period.

Rise is Great!

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Rise is so easy to use and has a great user interface. It is so simple to navigate through to system to find what I need. I love the payroll input sheet, it makes it so easy to make changes to payroll, and I can easily view changes to an employees pay without having to submit the entire run. Such a time saver! The Customer Support Team is also amazing, it is always easy to get ahold of them when needed.

Cons:

Sometimes I will notice small glitches in the system, for example a date being in French when I have selected English for the system. Whenever I see something like this, the Customer Support Team is always able to investigate and resolve it quickly.

[sensitive content hidden] is wonderful!Overall, the product is very easy to use and onboard new employees. I like having everything I need in one system.

Getting personalized customer service is more difficult now than when it was free.

3.0 3 years ago

Comments: I was a pretty happy customer initially but after transitioning from the free to the paid service, have experienced worse customer support. I also find it frustrating that the payroll cutoff dates are so far out from the actual pay date. When my staff person was ill with covid, I was forced to predict a full week of work for her, which she ended up not being able to work, and so she was overpaid for 31 hours and her ROE is incorrect. When she was able to return to work over a month later, she was in the position of owing me those 31 hours.

Pros:

I am a first time business owner and first time administering payroll so using Rise was amazing as they took care of the deductions and direct deposits for my team and it was a huge weight off my shoulders. The service was free for companies with less than 10 employees which was amazing. When I needed help I was usually able to get help quickly either by online chat (even though times to access it were quite limited) or by email and I really appreciated getting to communicate back and forth with difficulties I was having or mistakes that I made. I definitely made the most of the system and customer service was amazing and patient with me.

Cons:

The free service was discontinued and now that I am a paying customer, I have a harder time accessing customer support which was disappointing and counter intuitive. I can no longer access online chat at all and the last issue I had, for which I submitted two tickets, was never responded to. And it was a serious issue. I had a staff member fall seriously ill to covid and took an extended leave and I completed her ROE incorrectly which has delayed her ability to collect EI. I initially waited to see if I would get a response before completing the ROE myself, but it was over a week and I had heard nothing back, despite submitting a second ticket, so I just did it on my own, made an error and as I mentioned, delayed her support response. It was a rep at EI who called to clarify the mistake I made so that her application could proceed.

Hi Theresa, first and foremost, we want to thank you for your honest and detailed feedback. Although we were fortunate to have experienced great growth over the past year, one area that we've had a harder time to keep up with was in Client Support. This is something that we plan to learn and grow from. Your feedback helps us do that. We want you to know that we're aware of the work we need to do, and every team across the organization has been working hard the past couple of months to revamp our client support processes, tools, and training to reimagine every interaction a client has with us. We doubled our support team members so we can respond to and resolve tickets faster. We've implemented a new support request form and ticket routing process to speed up ticket responses. And we're improving our live chat experience and will have that back by the end of May. Please know our entire company is focused on righting the ship to deliver the customer support you

Glitchy product, poor customer care

1.0 3 years ago

Comments: I used to be a big supporter of RISE, them being Canadian small business but now I am walking away as I don't think the product or support will improve. The company seems to be focused on adding new features but basic functionality that is a must-have is not working properly.

Pros:

My organization signed up with RISE for payroll over 4 years ago. The program looks nice and simple to navigate.

Cons:

Customer care over the last couple of years has drastically fallen. Our issues are unresolved for weeks and we have to keep following up to get answers. The program has a lot of bugs or glitches and you can't fix anything or no workarounds can be found. The reports are super basic and no setting can be saved, resulting in a lot of re-work.

Everything needed for payroll, stellar customer support

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Customer support is far and away the best part of this software. If anything goes wrong they will fix it.

Cons:

The main interface hasn't changed a lot since Paysavvy and is showing its age. When I sign in, automatically create the next payroll if it's due soon, rather than making me click "Create Next Payroll". When I add a new rule or click Save, don't force a refresh of the whole page, but persist as is. When I click Submit, skip the need to "View Results" and go straight to a summary report that has all of the information broken out. I always need the invoice data. Detecting statistical exceptions would be great. For example, I once accidentally entered all of employee's time for a pay period as both regular time and overtime. It would be nice for Rise to point out when an employee's hours are significantly different from their median. Web Service API access to the invoice data in particular is something I've wanted for a while. I have a script that scrapes this data and inserts into my accounting system, because it takes a long time to do by hand.

We've been using Rise for payroll and absolutely love it

5.0 7 years ago

Pros:

As our company has grown Rise has always been able to accommodate anything we need. I also cant say enough good things about their customer support; from their support onboarding to quickly answering any questions that come up from payroll to payroll I have always been so impressed.

Cons:

Once a payroll has been submitted there is no way to reopen it, make changes, and resubmit. i do wish I had this ability but any time we've made a mistake or needed to make a change they have always worked with us to find a solution.

Rise Response

Thank you for your feedback. We are really pleased to hear that you have had a great experience with Rise! Just so you know, once you submit a payroll, you can then edit it and resubmit over and over. However, once you do the final approval, the payroll is complete. Having said that, we are always happy to help to find a solution if and when you need us. All the very best, The Rise People Team [email protected] 1-888-393-3483

Not Worth it

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: What really bugs me is that they originally had rise lite (free), they then cancelled this and put everyone on their most basic package (They gave plenty of notice etc.) and pricing was phrased in a reasonable way (Fine with us) They don't breakdown how much they charge per payroll, so we never noticed how the bill was racked up. Depending on your business you will be spending MUCH more than competitors for a service that is only sub par. Mostly due to a poor customer support structure.

Pros:

Reliable, once you figure it out. Having a hard time hitting the 40 word minimum here.

Cons:

Unintuitive, not flexible (If something needs to be fixed/ amended etc good luck), long gaps to pay employees. Free HR add on is a joke. Biggest con is the cost of this software and customer support. They offer email support that takes days, finding the number to call them is difficult and they don't technically offer it (You have to call sales and ask). It was ok when it was free, but paying a premium to be treated poorly....no thanks

Love this software, it's very user friendly, saved my lots time with the whole payroll process

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: Time saving and efficiencies when procession the payroll

Pros:

User friendly - the custom reports saved me lots time while reconcile payroll on a monthly and yearly basis. Customer service - Whenever I need help, the support team is always there !

Cons:

We did experienced few discrepancies while we transfer YTD into the system. Thus, at year end, we had some issues with CPP and EI YTD total. Also, for employee benefit , there were few errors in the input sheet. Rise can improve the accuracy in terms of manual adjustment

We start use Rise for company payroll in 2014. It's great software for processing CAD payroll.

4.0 7 years ago

Comments: It's easy to use and save us time to process payroll.

Pros:

It's very easy to use. We can add department and other information very easy way. Also we can e-file T4, ROE online.

Cons:

Rise has no US payroll now. We need use other system to process our US employees payroll. If we can use same Rise system to process CAD and US employees payroll, it will be much better.

product has improved over the last year or so. Good custom reporting options.

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

like the access to the data so we can run our own customized reports Remittances and T4 all taken care of Better now than in the past. At the beginning it felt like we were beta testing. Customer support staff seem more knowledgeable now Good follow through when we do have a problem or question

Cons:

unexplainable glitches (ie accrued vacation pay missing for some employees on one run) Some Rise standard reports don't seem to include info needed to match the report name Lose the titles when scrolling down a page of employees. If there was a way to "freeze panes" it would be very helpful.

Great Onboarding, Great Customer Service. Great Products

5.0 7 years ago

Comments: The biggest benefit is the time savings in comparison to when we used ADP and spreadsheets

Pros:

Rise's payroll system is super easy to use, reports are provided within seconds of processing, and the customer support for payroll is excellent. In terms of it's Hub/Time Off system, it has been great. No more spreadsheets tracking time off or vacation days!

Cons:

Tracking vacation days actually used in Time Off reporting can be a bit tricky when employees request, get approved, but then cancel that request.

Review Of Rise Software

4.0 5 years ago

Pros:

The process for biweekly payroll, T4s and ROEs are very easy to use. T4 reconciliations have always been a breeze and on the spot. The Rise People Team [email protected] and their toll free 1-888-393-3483 & chat box are convenient avenues to get help.

Cons:

Our accounting software is Adagio, which is rather obscure, but predominant in the Non-Profit world. There is no integration to import payroll data directly in Adagio.

Rise Response
