Apigee offers end to end API manage
Comments: Excellent API management and lifecycle development software
Pros:
I’ve been selling Apigee along with other GCP products for a couple of years now and this stands out from Kong, Mulesoft, and other API products Very easy to use and deploy with tons of options
Cons:
The number of SKUs to deal with could be more streamlined
Alternatives Considered:
Apigee Edge: Customer centric Apis gateway solution
Comments: Stable, secure, low latency but not that good quality support
Pros:
its simplicity to onboard proxies. online and offline mode of development. Ability to trace and visualize traffic.
Cons:
Apigee monetization. We bough monetization with Edge but its very unstable.
Great API management for security and availability
Comments: Easier API management, analytics and security
Pros:
Apigee provides a wide range of features that an API developer should monitor to develop a highly available and secured api, while the developer focuses best on the API functionality.
Cons:
Th learning curve for Apigee to learn initially. Apigee has great UI but user experience is bit uncomfortable
Must have for distributed systems
Pros:
The way it helps to get all the details of an API outage is impressive. Down to the finest details, helps a lot in triaging an issue.
Cons:
The user experience could be improved, with considerations for developers who have to repeatedly click multiple buttons to get a trace session started.
We use the Apigee Edge Platform for our API solution.
Pros:
The best part about this solution is that it runs, once it was set up and configured we have had little to no issues. They also provide a very nice selection of additional services that will support your API solution to market or implement.
Cons:
The company I was working for planned to detach from its parent company and branch off independently. We needed Apigee to migrate us away from the parent companies account and to create our own, The informed us that this was possible with out any disruption but after paying out thousands to them and spending weeks preparing for the migration . We later found out that a migration to our own Apigee account would force all of our partners to make a major change on their end causing downtime. We can't afford the downtime so we had to stay on the parent companies account and come up with an alternate plan to detach from the account.
Bit costly but fully feature packed
Pros:
oAuth support is built-in, SharedFlow feature is very convenient as it allows sharing of same block of policies across various API proxies. Also, Team, App and Product features help to offer APIs in very convenient way.
Cons:
It's a bit costlier as compared to Microsoft's Azure API Management service (APIM). Feature-wise, Apigee is pretty well, no cons from that perspective.
API Gateway - Apigee
Comments: Our current expectation of protecting our backend Service APIs are fulfilled with Apigee. And we could also adopt rate limiting, quotes and send generate Security Vulnerability analytics report for auditing easily. Happy with the product. But there are recommendation to consider TIBCO Mashery. DOwn the line we will explore more.
Pros:
One of the leading API Management Tool in the market. Now world is moving to words APIs/Microservices. And also the threat to the Security of IT Services is also rising. Apigee helps to protect backed API Services with proxy layer and also help in rate limiting(to avoid threat), Quota subscription base throughput capability), Analytics on no. of request form which region, IP info of the client, etc.
Cons:
Now a days, Integration product itself has the API Management capability. And which eliminates the need of addition/exclusive API Management tool. So, question here , down the line do we really need this?
Loving the Apigee platform
Pros:
What i like most about this product is the developer portal. It was super easy to build and is even easire to manage.
Cons:
What I like least about Apigee is the support. Everything is done through a portal and through email and you can end up spending a lot of time emailing to clarify an issue when you could have the same issue clarified in 10 minutes with a phone call.
navdeep review for APIGee edge
Comments: over all experience is good
Pros:
This is good when we are using some bulk functionalities .Like we can cater a whole sale market or retail eCommerce market
Cons:
Some times API are go offline and you are not aware ..that create a lots of mess
Apigee Edge as API Proxy
Comments: API Gateway, security, Request throttling, Web policy and Proxy services.
Pros:
we use Apigee EDGE as our API Gateway and Proxy and we deploy close to 200 microservices behind this proxy. We integrated SAML based authentication, request throttling and service policies for different categories of Microservices
Cons:
Price could be cheaper. But otherwise fantastic software with all features needed for a wholistic Gateway solution.
Centralising all your API management
Comments: This has been an excellent tool as we modernise some of our legacy systems to allow integration, without having to redeploy new software. One example is enabling partners to modify Salesforce records without having direct access.
Pros:
Never underestimate the benefit of being able to manage different API endpoints especially through the graphical representation allowing you to identify issues and make real time decisions. In addition the quota management has been invaluable to ensure rogue developers do not bottleneck the endpoint with faulty code.
Cons:
There needs to be a bigger user community to help guide better deployments and uses of the software.
Apigee Review
Pros:
It works very well and has had extremely good uptime with increasing number of APIs. Apigee's Edge gateway is more robust. Very easy to use and to integrate with third party development.
Cons:
No support to integrate it with automation frameworks. AWS API management is cost effective than Apigee. The model is very old and it need to be matured.
Easy way to manage api for our mirco services
Comments: very easy to learn (now owned by Google). Cant think of any good alternative that is cloud based
Pros:
1. very easy setup 2. option of setup using xml 3. very easy setup for load balancing 4. easy to validate the api header info before processing the request 5. version control , so u can play around with setup. Provide free account , with most of the functionality , so u can dirty your hand, before trying it on prod.
Cons:
1. only portol support there is no support of any cli tool , to view ur configuration 2. Certificate course available on coursera (by Google) on this tool , is paid and very high cost.
APIGEE review
Comments: 1) Overall APIGEE provides very systematic way of handling web service calls which ensures security and helps developers to focus on back end service code while leaving security responsibilities to APIGEE edge. 2) APIGEE Edge UI is very useful to cover information about proxies, Key value maps, caches and tracing of calls at different levels.
Pros:
1) Provides excellent way of creating a proxy between consumer and provider with highest level of web service call security and tracing calls. 2) Have very systematic ways of creating policies for different authentication systems used in back end services like basic authentication or OAuth authentication.
Cons:
1) Sometimes documentation are not very clear on how to create policies and use them while creating proxy.
develop and analyze your APIs
Pros:
Provides a good system to manage an API development and also has the ability to monitor and evaluate its development.
Cons:
It is a bit expensive for the way the platform offers its service, it could offer a platform with pricing models.
A Must Have for API Developers
Pros:
Ease of exposing APIs for consumption, great developer self-service portal, excellent community to find answers to questions, API monitoring, and the ability to import WSDLs.
Cons:
The pricing is very expensive and the pricing model is outdated. Would prefer a pay as you go model for pricing.
Great API gateway
Comments: Researched on it as a side option for work and a conference talk
Pros:
ESP tunneling with side car deployment strategy Little need for configuration Online dashboard for easy configuration
Cons:
Free option not available Trial doesn't include all features Pricing is relatively high
Best middle ware API proxies.
Comments: Very good alternative in API middle ware proxy providers with good features.
Pros:
1. Best middle ware proxy API's 2. Easy to built and manage 3. Good in monitoring and evaluating development.
Cons:
1. Needs improvement in API failure notifications and alerts and in overall support.
Excellent Tool to for RESTFul APIs
Pros:
This tool helps in providing a RESTful facade to your backend services
Cons:
Although this tool is a easy to use tool, you will need a software team (person) for your project
