Beware: Wise's Unethical Policies and Unresponsive Support Cost My Business

1.0 2 months ago New

Pros:

Nothing to enjoy with wise services. There are fare better options.

Cons:

Beware: Wise's Unethical Policies and Unresponsive Support Cost My Business I am sharing my experience with Wise to warn fellow business owners about the serious risks and unacceptable practices you may encounter if you choose to use their services. My business, is a legally registered travel agency in the UK, and I relied on Wise to manage payments for my photography and cultural tours, primarily in South America. Things took a turn for the worse when Wise froze my account and accused my business of violating their Acceptable Use Policy, citing my once-a-year humanitarian trip to Cuba. Despite explaining multiple times that: No Cuba-related transactions were ever processed through Wise (I use a separate European bank for this purpose), My tours comply with the “Support for Cuban People” category authorized by OFAC, designed to help Cuban citizens outside state control, Wise completely ignored the facts. Their customer support team responded with automated messages, refused to engage in any meaningful dialogue, and even lied, claiming they didn't monitor my emails—despite clear evidence to the contrary. After days of chasing them and providing thorough documentation, they chose to close my account without justification. The Consequences: Wise left my business in chaos, disrupting essential transactions and client arrangements. Their rigid policies align with sanctions widely condemned by the global community, and in doing so, they indirectly support humanitarian suffering. The Bottom Line: Wise is unreliable, unresponsive, and unethical. If your business has any complexity or humanitarian focus, beware: Wise will shut you down without notice or explanation, and customer support will abandon you. Their actions have serious real-world consequences. Avoid Wise if you value your business stability or require ethical and accountable financial services. There are far better alternatives out there that won’t put your livelihood at risk

Transfer money internationally has never been easier

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: It was very easy to create an account and start transferring money to it, it has an easy to understand interface which makes it very simple to navigate to any of its sections, I can use it on mobile devices as on computer, allows you to manage your money securely with measures such as two-factor authentication, allows you to work with suppliers from different parts of the world.

Pros:

I think it is a good option to transfer money internationally, it works with a wide variety of currencies and handles very low commissions and a favorable conversion rate, transferring money from one country to another quite simple and practical, as if that were not enough, the transfers are quite fast, when transferring the money received from your Wise account to your bank account, you receive the money very quickly without complications, that way receiving international payments becomes easy, fast and secure.

Cons:

There are services that are not yet available in all regions, such as international debit cards which would be a great help to make payments with your Wise balance, and do not have a support for electronic payments that are on other platforms, so it is only focused on international transfers but does not cover international payment to businesses as such.

Will never use it again

1.0 5 months ago

Comments: THEY WILL FREEZE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT USE IT! I've been using Wise for a long time without any issues. However, after not using it for over a year I so, I needed to make a transfer to Brazil. I updated the app and re-entered my information multiple times until I could finally initiate a transfer. But when I tried to send the money, I kept getting a message saying, "Payment Unsuccessful," with no further explanation. I tried two more times and encountered the same error. When I logged out and back in, I saw that Wise had debited my bank account three times the amount I intended to transfer. Instead of sending the money to the recipient, it was transferred to my Wise account. I called Wise, but the first person I spoke to was unhelpful. She kept repeating that the money couldn't be refunded because I hadn't called after the first failed attempt. I explained that the app only said "payment unsuccessful," so I thought it was fine to try again. She suggested I transfer the money back to my bank account, but I didn't think I should have to pay a fee for that since I had to transfer back to my account due to a glitch on the app. She also replied to convincing me to keep the money there to use to pay other things and I told her I don't need to make other transfers and I will not use it for other things since I can use my regular credt card and not pay transfer/transfer fees. I use Wise strictly for international transfers. She acknowledged that there was a glitch, which had since been resolved, but still refused to refund my money. When I asked to speak to a manager, she refused, saying there wasn't one available and that I should try calling later, but she couldn't guarantee I'd reach a manager. I hung up and called again. The second person I spoke to was more helpful. Although I still could not talk with a manager she escalated the issue and also asked if I had tried transferring the money back to my account. I told her I hadn't, and I explained why. While she put me on hold, I tried transferring again, as the previous agent said the glitch was fixed. Once more, the money was transferred to my Wise account, and I got the same "payment unsuccessful" message. At this point, while still one the phone, I decided to transfer the money back to my bank account since I'd already been charged four times the amount I wanted to transfer. I planned to request a refund for the fee, as this whole situation was due to their glitch. However, when I tried to transfer the money back, I kept getting stuck on the screen asking me to review the transaction. My money is now stuck in my Wise account with a "sending pending" status, and I can't complete the transaction. The second agent said it would be resolved in 1-2 business days, but all I received was an email saying it could take up to 14 business days to resolve. The money has already been taken from my bank account, so why is it so hard for them to issue a refund when they know there was a glitch? I’ve opened a dispute with my bank. This entire situation is incredibly frustrating. Thankfully, the amount isn't too large, but the fact that my money is stuck in their account is infuriating. After reading other reviews from people who experienced similar issues and were told repeatedly that their problem would be resolved in a few days, only to wait for months. I've decided I’ll no longer use Wise. See screenshots.

Pros:

How fast it is when it worked. I can't see other pros.

Cons:

Will freeze hot money for no reason. The customer support is not helpful. Can't speak to a manager when you ha e issues.

Beware that Wise can close your account and keep your funds before the application process is complete...

1.0 2 months ago New

Comments: BEWARE: Wise closed my account without notice after asking me to deposit funds to keep the application process going. They sent me an Interac e-transfer request which I used to deposit $3,000. Then they closed the account due to not meeting their community standards and kept my money. I have been fighting with them for a week trying to get the money back. Since they closed the account before returning my funds they have no record of anything and dealing with their customer support has been an absolute nightmare, have sent and received upwards of 20 emails back and forth and still don't have my funds returned. They require a bank statement showing the account name, a record of the transaction including account numbers and payment reference numbers etc. I have given them all this numerous times now but keep getting passed around and then asked for the same things again. It's an absolute drain of my time and energy. My banking institution where the funds were deposited informed me that the reference number I gave them should be the only thing they need to reverse the deposit. This has been an excruciating process that I still don't have a resolution to after 6 days and over 20 emails back and forth with their support. This should be a simple resolution. Firstly, they should not accept money from me until my account is fully approved. Secondly, they should have returned the funds before closing the account. Lastly, according to my bank, and Interac that I have spoken to, they should only require the payment reference number to reverse the transaction, especially since they initiated the closure and their policy states that they will return the funds. This has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend Wise to anyone in Canada. I don't think their agents even understand the payment systems they use.

Pros:

The supposed ease and convenience of transferring funds.

Cons:

Poor customers service and predatory practices.

Misapplication of the sanction law

1.0 5 months ago

Comments: This financial service banned my transfer to a person residing in the city of Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. Their rationale was that, in their opinion, Zaporizhzhia is under sanctions. However, this is inaccurate. While the Zaporizhzhia oblast is partially occupied and the occupied areas are under sanctions, the city of Zaporizhzhia remains under governmental control. They have conflated these distinct situations. Despite providing them with numerous resources to clarify this, they have not reviewed them and now intend to restrict my account. This demonstrates a significant level of incompetence in the current political and legal situation.

Pros:

Fast transactions with other Wise account holders

Cons:

1. No customer care. 2. Incompetence in sanction legislation. 3. Customer support works slowly.

Unreliable and a big hassle to get your money back

1.0 10 months ago

Pros:

Nothing. The hassle I had with them to re-activate my account and get my money back was so big that I can not think of anything positive anymore.

Cons:

Without valid reasons Wise closed our business and personal accounts. The result was that I could not access our accounts anymore and it took me more than 6 months and lots of emails to get the money from my balances back. Because I could/can not access the accounts I am not sure if they refunded me everything.

Feel safe, it is good value with instant reporting

5.0 last year

Comments: Successful and happy for virtual transactions across the world

Pros:

I like the fact that it feels safe to use, the cost is extremely low and there is instant reporting when the transaction is complete or when there is a problem

Cons:

Hard to say because the irritating thing is when a transaction doesn't go through because the Payee's details don't match exactly - as this is also the most important safety feature so vital. Overall a benefit.

BEWARE OF WISE BUSINESS FEES AND DOCUMENT VERIFICATION.

1.0 last year

Comments: Support team is lying 🤥 to me. I am sent proof of money that does not match my bank account funds.

Pros:

Nothing really is likeable. It is only about verification and fees.

Cons:

I hate that after my money was taken out of my account, I had to make accountant appointments costing me more money. Wise is suppose to transfer money affordability that is what I was expecting. I paid thousands more than a normal transfer for verification and transfer fees plus a fees to return my money back into my account.

"Wise Review: Pros and Cons of the International Money Transfer Service

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, Wise is a reliable and cost-effective way to transfer money internationally, with a user-friendly platform and fast transfer times. While there are some limitations and drawbacks, the low fees and competitive exchange rates make it a popular choice for many users.

Pros:

Low expenses: Insightful charges a lot of lower charges than conventional banks or other cash move administrations, which can get a good deal on worldwide exchanges.Cutthroat trade rates: Astute offers serious trade rates, and that implies you get more cash in the objective money for your exchange.Quick exchanges: Generally speaking, moves with Astute are handled inside the space of hours or even minutes, which is a lot quicker than conventional bank moves.Simple to utilize: Shrewd's site and application are easy to use and simple to explore, simplifying it to send and get cash from anyplace on the planet.Multi-money account: Savvy likewise offers a multi-cash account, which permits you to hold and deal with various monetary standards in a single spot, and to switch between monetary standards at the genuine conversion scale.

Cons:

No actual areas: Insightful is an online-just help, and that implies you can't visit an actual area to make or get moves.Restricted installment choices: Insightful just acknowledges specific installment strategies, for example, bank moves or charge card installments, which can be a disadvantage in the event that you like to utilize other installment techniques. No money moves: Insightful doesn't offer money moves, which can be an issue in the event that your beneficiary doesn't have a ledger or likes to get cash.Limits on moves: Insightful forces move limits, which can be an issue on the off chance that you really want to send or get a lot of cash.Check process: to utilize Shrewd, you really want to go through a confirmation interaction that can be tedious and may require extra documentation.

The Best Online Bank Miles Away

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I do use Wise literally daily from almost three years. I have to travel a lot, and I find their rates to be the best with no questions.

Pros:

It does offer great exchange rates. You can literally a bank account in different countries like EEUU, UK, Belgium, etc. The money transferring system is super easy to use

Cons:

As the time pass, it has become more difficult to open a Wise Account. It does not allow Venezuelan customers to manage their cards, nor their accounts while in Venezuela, and it is a terrible deal, since you might be eventually parked at some places, and you won't be able to use your funds. The customer support is not as good as it should be. I found myself looking for Wise customer services in different countries once a particular time zone is closed. There are no physical or virtual cards for businesses in the United States, then it is super limited the money management.

Wise, My Dreamable Digital Bank,

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Nowadays my business is totally dependent on the wise. Because currently, I'm using the wise account to get payment from my international client in USD format.
No, if we talk about my overall experience with the wise bank account is, then it was appreciable. And I'm fully satisfied with the wise. And hope so that I will continue to keep using the wise for a lifetime.

Pros:

I have enjoyed the a lot the multi currency feature if wise. I am using local currency format and USD currency in wise. I use to receives the Internation payment in USD format. There is also the option of several bank account balances e.g USD, GBP, and my local currency PKR. I can also receive money using GBP format as well as USD. The Thing that I have liked too much in wise is transfer to our local bank account. And the amount will be transferred to your bank account within 30 minutes. I have made a lot of transactions for transferring my money from a wise USD balance to my local bank account and I'm very satisfied with this. Mobile access to a wise account is also a very smart and cool process. I have installed the wise application on my android. And I am glad to share that the application of wise is Fingerprint supported, Mean that there is no need of typing our password again and again. I can easily access my account through android just by using a fingerprint scan. Managing payment through the mobile application is the same as we do through the web. I have not faced any type of lag problem or any type of security issue while using the android application of wise.

Cons:

Well, there is too much to experience in wise, But I have some suggestion for the wise team to introduce some improvements. First of all, the Multi-currency option of wise is very appreciable, But there is a charge of 20$ for getting USD bank account details. Although the charge will be credited to our wise bank account, but we have to pay for once. I have a lot of friends that are unable t use wisely just because they are not having a visa or MasterCard for making a transaction too wise. And they are not eligible to get bank account details without depositing 20$. That's why I had liked to discuss this issue with the wise team , and my honest suggestion is to remove this charge . Although you can ask for a legal documents for human verification or may ask for local bank account details but I would like that this charge should be removed completely and getting any bank account details inside-wise should be completely free of cost. So that any student can use the Wise account for freelancing purposes and to receive payment from clients.

Disappointed

1.0 3 years ago

Comments: I have used Wise (fromelly Transfer wise) for many years with no serious issues but not good at all lately.

Pros:

Ease of sending funds if you are not asked for verification, if you are then 9 days plus.

Cons:

Customer support is non-existant. I have sent funds to a client 9 days ago and the funds have been withdrawn from my account but not reached the recipient. In my business, regular payments to clients are critical and after launching many support tickets I keep getting the following reply: "I can see we are still waiting for our team to verify your documents. I will reach our to them to get an update." Despite stating on the transfer voucher that it may take 1-2 days to verify the information they have asked for it has now been 9 days and I am still sending e mails to Wise and raising support tickets. Latest message is: "We’re sorry for the delay in your verification. We’re experiencing a large volume of businesses onboarding now, so this is taking a little longer than expected. Our verification team is working hard to review all businesses as quickly as possible. Businesses are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. It can take anywhere from 5-7 working days." Quite pathetic really if it takes 9 days and the transfer has not gone through !

Excellent Service for the price

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, I am happy with the platform. Wise allows me to set up my clients and my contractors, invoice my clients, pay my contractors, and keep a running record of all transactions.

Pros:

Wise is a very user-friendly platform. It is simple to set up and use, and even their trial version/free version allows companies to customize their invoices.

Cons:

Customer service can be limited. Their hours are not 24/7 and they don't jump on live calls with you. They only converse via a live chat, and most of their support is just redirecting you to content to read. Business owners don't have time to read an article whenever they have an issue. They need an expert to walk them through their issue and solve it.
